Our staff digitizes older photographs, negatives, slides and other photographic materials for viewing, sharing, & the preservation of the original materials. When digitized, there is better access to the collection for sharing without handling the originals unless needed for research. All materials should be kept safe in proper storage enclosures and environments.

We digitize photographic and art works on paper for repair and restoration where the conventional means of conservation are not possible, or would change the historic or cultural meaning. The restored digital files are printed

on similar paper to that used for the original print. Once digitally restored, a print of most sizes is possible with our extra high resolution files.
We digitize all types & sizes of still films. These can be used to create archival digital prints or digital files to share, store, or for web posting. These files can be restored or enhanced, if necessary. We also digitize 8mm & 16mm movies. These films, along with photographs and personal ephemera, make up collections cherished by families, and tells the story of our collective histories and cultures.
We have been successful in the reformatting of lacquer & vinyl recordings, audio tapes and reel-to-reel audio tapes for digital media. Some of these were damaged by accident or moisture/water disasters. PhotoArts Imaging can deal with the damaging molds that attack these media.
Reformatting digital files & saving hard drive disc data
Our staff has the ability to take any file type you may have and reformat it to the file type you need. We can convert a multitude of different file types to another format. We follow all FADGI, AMIA, and Library of Congress standards for archival processing.
Reformatting older VHS movies to digital media files
If your computer, laptop, or other drive becomes damaged due to accident or storms, do not despair. Before tossing the drive, call PhotoArts’ electronic media conservator, Roy Canizaro, to have us check to see if the data can be recovered and placed on another hard drive.
If the memory in your camera or a device fails, don’t think that your data or images are gone. There may be a possibility to recover those images or information. If the card has not been reformatted, he might be able to recover your data. Just call us between 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., M – F, to ask about these services.
When changing formats of files or media, we respect the US & International copyright laws. Be sure you own the rights to the media or files & data, or have a signed letter saying you have permission to alter or copy a file. PhotoArts will not change, copy or reformat any original file, image, photograph, document, or ephemera that is copyrighted or not owned by our clients.
